Three quests. Pick one. Phone away.

Rompus is a parent-held iPhone app of outdoor quests for kids aged 3 to 12. Open it, see three quests you can do today, pick one, and put the phone away. The kid does the quest and earns a badge in their own badge book.

The Today screen: three quest cards, a weather chip and a Tonight strip
Three quests, doable today
A quest card for Find three bugs: what to bring, three steps, what to say, the rule
Every card tells you what to bring
A badge arriving on screen, mid-celebration, with the child's name on a tape
Every badge is the child's
Tonight's sky as a timeline: sunset, moonrise, planets and a space station pass
Tonight's sky, from the backyard
How it goes

Designed to be closed.

Rompus is not a game your child plays on the phone. It is the thing you check for thirty seconds before you go out.

Open it

Three quests for today, picked for your kids' ages, the weather, what's in season where you live, and what's in the sky tonight.

Pick one

The card says what to bring, how it goes in three steps, what to say to your kid, and the rule. Fire, water and anything picked or touched carry a plain "with a grown-up" label.

Phone away

Go do it. When you're back, one tap logs it, with a photo if you took one. The kid gets a badge, with a sound and a moment on screen.

What it knows

Doable right now, not someday.

Weather

A snowman on a snow day. A puddle walk in the rain. Nothing that needs a dry afternoon when there isn't one.

Season

Bug hunts in spring. Leaf colour in fall. Quests that need a frozen pond wait for one.

Tonight's sky

Sunset, moonrise, which planets are up and when the space station passes over, computed on the phone.

Where you are

Your location is read once, when you ask, to pick quests that fit. It never leaves the phone.

Ladders and packs

Real skills, four badges at a time.

Six ladders build towards something: tie a knot that holds, find Jupiter, read a trail, catch and release. Seven packs fit the day you're having.

A camp day: the day's quests and the night's sky, built before leaving and working with no signal
A camp pack works with no signal

What it is not

Not a game your child plays on the phone. Not a species-identification app: the photo chip says "an insect" or "Not sure. Count it anyway?", never a name, and it never says anything is safe to eat or touch. Not a screen-time tracker. No streaks, no missed-day messages, no leaderboards, no comparing siblings. Milestones count totals, and nothing nags.

Privacy

Stays on this phone.

No sign-in. No analytics. No server. Your children's names, ages, notes and photos never leave the phone. Your location is read once, when you ask, and the only thing that goes anywhere is a coordinate to Apple Weather for the forecast. Read the whole policy. It is short.
